introduce it to the little mouse on the stair, with clogs on - they can start a band, maybe called "the rodents" mostly purcussion based until the rat can learn slide guitar- or who knows maybe the rat has a great voice and you can enter him into pop idol and you can become his agent and landlord and he will have a golden rat cage with diamonte trim and he will be run for president of the rat people and will be known as lord rat of michegan, which is old indian for Me Kitchen.

If its a wild rat then kill it, but a tame one pick it up and put it back in its cage after youve petted it and played with it for a bit.
Fancy rats are cool.
