Received a letter from some lawyer with PC credentials saying he is representing a class actions suit payment. I think it is a scam but am curious to hear what P.C. stands for behing his law office credentials. Anyone know!

Professional Corporation, just means they are incorporated as a private business. Accountants and other professionals use P.C. as well as LLP, which is Limited Liability Practice, or LLC which is limited liability corporation.

And as for the class action suit, if you have purchased the product that they are suing for at one point in time, such as a car that has a part recalled for various reasons, when you buy they have your name in a data base. I received a letter from a legal firm regarding a class action suit on the Chevy Lumina because of a failing ABS brake system. I knew it was legit because my parents received one too regarding their Lumina.

If it is regarding a product that you did not purchase, or something you did not participate in, chances are its a scam.

Professional Corporation.

The advantages of a professional corporation are: (1) limited liability for the members of the corporation -- something not available to members of a general partnership; and (2) the availability of certain perquisites common to corporations -- like retirement plans [less of a problem now than it was 30 years ago].
