Yes - it has happened often to us. A passing cloud rains on one part of the garden, while there is bright sunshine too.

Absolutely, I've even seen rain fall on only half a hy-way.

I have seen it rain only part of a ,wide open area, road once where one side was dry and one side was wet

yes interestingly. in my old house that was 3 miles long and 5 wide it happened more often than you'd think.
