Yep. Rotation describes how a planet turns on its axis (imagine a spinning ball) whereas revolution describes how the planet moves through the solar system around the sun.

The best way to do it is to avoid the word "revolution" alltogether. Either use the word rotation or use the word orbit. Then there is never any confusion. The unfortunate thing is that revolution is often used as a replacement for either rotation or orbit. Use the word rotation or spin to discuss the sidereal daily motion of its axis...spinning like a top. Once every 23 hrs, 56 minutes, and 4 seconds Earth rotates once. (NOT 24 hours...that is something different than rotating once) Use the word orbit do discuss its annual motion around the sun.

Rotation is the Earth spinning 360 degrees and it takes 24 hours for one complete spin, this results in day and night (except around the poles where there is no constant day and night)
Revolution is the Earth spinning 360 degrees around the Sun and this takes one year for one complete revolution, this results in the four seasons (except around the equator where the climate is constant)
This would most likely be a Geography question rather than Biology.
Hope it helps.

Depending on how it's used, either nothing or rotation can mean the turning of the Earth on its axis and revolution can mean the orbital motion of the Earth around the Sun.

I'm not sure why you thought this was a biology question...
Rotation = turning on its own axis = once per day
Revolution = tracing out its orbit around the sun = once per year
