If you do your research, you could end up with a large house in a nice location if you're prepared to hang onto it for a while. Look for up-and-coming areas - new rail links or transport systems, new retail parks etc can all increase the value of areas. Try to find an estate agent you trust (hard, I know but you may have a friend who knows one socially) and ask about areas near you which are becoming more popular. As housing prices are getting ridiculously high, people can't afford the best areas and are looking to the next best area, and that's where you can find your property - you just need to get in there before everyone else. Location is generally more important than the size of the house if you think you're ever going to move again, but if you're happy with an area yourself, and have no plans to move on, then go for the house that feels right to you.

I think you need to look for a other house totally, as when u buy a house it has to be in a nice place, convienient and prepared to live there for atleast long time not a few years. So if you are outgrowing your smaller house the big house is the one but once again not in a good location isnt satisfiying. I'm sure when you look around you will get some you are satisfied and wont regret after shifting in.
All the best

Sounds to me like what you all really need is space. So moving into another small house won't help so much, and kids keep growing so you all are only going to get more cramped. I would go with the big house. Locations change over time, so in a few years it might be a really good area, and you have gotten in ahead of the crowd. Good luck!

currently I have no kids so location would be high on my priority list as long as people weren't getting shot in front of my house or something, but in the long run I would choose a Small house in a good location in order to instill good morals and values on my children!! I have lived in both as a child and I would prefer to be in an environment where the people will treat you right, and where there is stuff to do other than drugs or gangs......:)~

It depends since you are outgrowing your small house it would not make sense to get a smaller house unless the smaller house is larger than yours.
A larger house that is not in a good location is not an ideal place to raise children especially if the neighborhood continues to deteriorate.

But if you only have these 2 choices I would go for the smaller home especially if you can add to it.

I would go with what makes you happy and safe. Is the "not so good" location so because of crime? Location? Class of neighbors?

I would highly recommend that you answer this question yourself outside of Y!A, but if you must.

I would probably go for the smaller house in a nice location asuming that it is bigger than the house you are currently in as it is in consideration. Don't take my answer as everything though, there are always a lot of questions surrounding things like this.

I'd pick the smaller house in a good location. If you're thinking of staying for a long time it is good for safety reasons and for general location reasons.

If you're thinking of resale value the location will do you good on that market as well. A bad or poor location can kill the value of the house right off.

I'd go for the smaller house in a good location, can you extend, do a loft conversion? You can change a lot of things about a house, but you can't do much about the location.

Well, if my house was too small to accomodate my family, then I guess I would move. If I didn't have a family and no potential for one in the future, I would choose the smaller house. Do whatever makes YOU and YOUR FAMILY happy!!!
