The bank said it would take 48 hours to show up again but so far (after 4 days) it still isnt on my balance.

I had heard that the machines do swallow your money if you take to long to remove it from the dispenser, but until i actually saw this happening with my own eyes i didnt believe it.

Does this money not just automatically get put back into your account or do you actualy have to make a claim? What happens to the excess balance at the atm machine if you dont make a claim then?, does the bank just keep it as profit???

You need to contact the bank again. Ask them what you need to do in order to get your money back. If the money comes up in the machine they will put it back into your account. ( I made a withdrawal from a machine that was out of money) You'll get your money. Plus if it comes down to it, ATM's have cameras and they can go back and review the tapes and see that you were there and see that the money wasn't retrieved.

Every ATM that takes deposits that I've ever seen just had a narrow slot for envelopes with cash and checks. I can't imagine there's any that take coins. Perhaps go to a local store and see if they want to buy your change? You'd have to roll it first. But stores constantly have to go to the bank to get change, maybe they'd take yours and give you cash. The "courtesy desk" at a grocery store might also be willing to do it.

As you have contacted the bank about this problem, I'm afraid you will have to wait until they check the ATM's account balance. And if it shows a excess balance equal to the amount you said you'd drawn, then they will reinburse you for that amount. Have a good day.

There is no proof for ATM transactions. You have to take money immediately on dispensing. In case of any shortage you can complain to the bank quoting ATM location, account slip and date. The bank can verify physical cash balance and mostly they refund or credit to your bank account.

It is a security measure to help in case you were being attacked etc, go to the actual bank where it happened with the card and maybe they can check it out strait away.
