I'm planning to get colored contact lenses. NOrmally, i wear the basic clear lenses and i'm fine with them. A few of my friends wear colored lenses, and one of them told me it's HARD TO SEE in them, because there's only one hole on the lenses that allow your eyes to see. is this true that it is more difficult seeing with colored contacts than with the clear ones?

In normal room light or better there is no problem . In low light such as driving at night or a dance floor you may notice some of a halo on the edges of your vision. If you are wearing FOCUS brand they are invisible unless you are standing on your head. then you would get a slight red tone over the whole area . You would get the red overtone even if you were not wearing contacts. you did not mention what color your eyes were but if the are any light color you can have lots of fun. Your ecp has or can get samples for you to try. you can get lenses in Rx or plano consider a few plano to be worth while when you are wearing glasses. it really confuses people.I have worn colored contacts since they first came on the market. Have fun , enjoy

From my own personal experience of lens wearing (over 30 yrs.): There are not "holes" in colored contact lenses. Some have an area in the center that is not tinted which allows your iris to show through. I have worn many colors of tinted lenses including purple and grey. You will not be aware that they are any different than lenses with no color. I have not used the non-prescrption lenses that change your iris shape (sold at Halloween and not for correction of vision--as well as being incredibly expensive), and understand from eye-care professionals that they are a very heavy lens--that may affect your quality of vision. Here's a hint to remember, if you have dark eyes, light colors will look different on you as your eye color (esp. dark brown) can show through the tinted lenses. If you really want to see what they will look like on you, your eye doctor should have (or be able to obtain) some non-prescription color samples that you can try on. Different brands of lenses can even have a variety of looks. Colored lenses can be a lot of fun and really enhance your look. Good luck!

NO, Its not hard to see with colored contact lenses. Mine were aquamarine. You dont see the color of your lenses, you see right threw the middle of the lense.

shouldn't do - i used to have tinted contact lenses, made no difference - you don't look through the blue, you look through the transparent hole in the middle.

its not hard to see, its just that since there are color and when you blink, your contact moves and sometimes the colored part goes in front of the black dot part of your eye. sometimes it just gets a bit blurry is all ;]

only at night because your pupils get larger when in the dark. So you will see around the eye a little blur it's not you or your eyes it's your contacts.
