We are not saying that Sri Lanka would have won if it was played on Sunday. We are saying that it would have been EQUALLY fair for both teams if it was played on Sunday. Why can't an important game like this be postponed for one day? We have gotten over it. Our team didn't have a problem with it and they played as a gesture of good will and we praise Gillchrist. He is a classy player. Our team must have lost, but we admire the performance of Vaas, Murali, Malinga and Tharanga, Jayasuriya and the rest of the team and Mahela who had the real qualities of a great leader, we are really proud of our guys specially the way they played the game in the right spirit!. We accept our defeat. But we won the award for sportsmanship, that- you have to accept!

I too have been seeing lot of comments from people, which are totally unsportsmanship like. I appreciate Captain of Sri Lankan side, Mahela Jayawardene, who has accepted the fact that Australia played better and he did not take any excuse to justify the loss of his team in the final. He really showed what is the sportsmanship in true spirit.

Yes this is the best question of the cup series these sour losers are not doing their country any good the SrI Lankan team was inferior to the unbeatable Aussies and these characters should be paying homage to some of the real greats of the Cricket World instead of accusing of cheating racism etc.

Jayawardane was truly great in acknowledging the superiority of Australia.Gilchrist took the game away from the Lankans in the first 20 overs. The SriLankans too were gallant in their reply.Let them vent their disappointment.
But the real culprits were the organisers in denying the fans a 50 over final when there was a reserve day at hand.

look dude, the aussies are like - face it - one of the best (or THE best) cricket team - for now
whats sri lanka???? a third world, war torn li'l island in the indian ocean - half the players on the team come from rural areas!
and yet, THEY MET THE AUSSIES IN THE WC FINALS - TWICE!!!
now THAT'S wot i call gr8.
cricket: one team loses, one team wins. BOTH teams PLAY.
u have a problem? keep it to yourself.
besides, all those reasons? yeah, somewhat actually make sense.
have a nice day.

well all the reasons u mentioned are valid for the lankans to use. but good thing they lost. i specially hate their bowlers. Vaas acts so hard azz when he gets a wicket but aussies put him in his place and that other one looks like a clown with blond shaded afro.
