There are billions of galaxies in the universe, each containing billions of stars. The total number of stars is therefore unimaginably large.

In the April 2007 issue of Natural History magazine, on page 24, Neil deGrasse Tyson provides these words:

"There are more stars in the universe than grains of sand on any beach, more stars than seconds have passed since the Earth formed, more stars than words and sounds ever uttered by all the humans who ever lived."

there are no amounts of stars because they just keep coming.....they will never die out because they will just get lighter, and new ones will be formed.
