still exists? Is that why public schools that have primarily black students attending are so much crappier than public
schools that have primarily white students attending?

*And I know that Plessy vs. Ferguson was the court case that argued "separate but equal" but that concept is bull, so I call it "separate but unequal" because that's what it should have been called in the first place.

I totally agree with your statement. Unfortunately many minority schools have a barrier when it comes to understanding. There are language barriers by children who are new to the country and speak little to no English who are put into classes with more advanced children. Even if the “advanced” children are sub-par versus the standard. There are barriers between cultures that cause tension in these schools so children must raise their guard in order not to be one of the outcasts. So they have to watch their backs instead of looking up front at the teacher.

So what we have here is basically a system of failing education. NOT because the majority teachers and educators are less determined to educate. But because the students are unmotivated, unequipped mentally, and unchallenged by their parents.

For the past 20 years we have seen even in so called “white” schools the fall of test scores. Some of it may be bad teachers. But most of it is bad parenting.

Also as single parent households increase, test scores decrease. If you notice, richer people can afford PRIVATE higher-grade counseling, tutors, and hired help for a more stable home life for their children even if they are single. NOT saying ALL single parents are bad. No way… But a parent should be a parent and not the child’s best friend. A parent should be one that motivates, and dictates how that child proceeds in life by example. A child knows when a parent is struggling or off balance. They sense when turmoil is near. A parent should be a steady foundation even if the best of life is out of reach. That is why we see success stories by a single parent raising a child in the ghetto. They are the child’s solid ship carrying them to new safer shores even in times of trouble.

"Separate but equal" as a legal standard doesn't exist - and there numerous penalties to encourage just the opposite.

For the most part, local tax dollars in a given area fund schools. State and federal taxes supplement that to some degree. Poorer areas have poorer schools; richer areas have richer schools. This is true of poor neighborhoods that are primarily white and poor neighborhoods that are primarily black.

Segregration isn't enforced by any government, but it exists on its own for a variety of historical and cultural reasons. It has its roots in Plessy, perhaps, but we're looking more at the remnants and effects of segregation, racism, and poverty.

Well ask yourself this question if you had to choose what system to be under which one would you choose? At least under Plessy V. Ferguson black kids learned. What about now since segregation the dropout rate for black kids is over 50% . The education system in this day and age is so poor that no one is learning that is why crime has skyrocketed for 13-18 year olds.

its like this...white kids that can go to school with black kids in black majority schools usually dont learn much..they just act like everybody else and stand around and look tuff in baggy clothes.....so the parents see this and move early if they can...so their tax dollars go with them and the places they select benefit with better schools..and the black schools that are not much more than social clubs anyway go downhill....I live near my old high school that is now 70 % black and is getting more that way every day as all the white people move so our kids can get a decent education...you should see the thugs hanging around the parking lots....not much learning at that school....and my kids dont go there for sure....
