Rosebud was the sled at the end of the movie It was a MacGuffin (a term used by alfred hitchcock to show that something of little importance- psycho it was the money, and in Quentin's Pulp Fiction it was the Brefcase) however, was a big significant
rosebud was the loss childhood that kane didnt have. At the beginning of the movie his mother wanted him to have a better life he was never loved by his mother and so he always seaked attention. this is also brought up by his second wife( i forgot it was said)

As they told you, Rosebud was the name of the guy's sled.
I took Film and theater critic in college so I think I know how to critic a movie. So I watched that movie because it was the number one movie of all time according to the American Film Institute.
However, I thought the movie was horrible. It bored me and I watched it to the end to see if it could turn around but it didn't. It has symbolism and all that other crud but it has no entertainment value.

First of all, shame on you for having to ask this question. But since you asked, Rosebud is the name of the sled he had as a child. It represents his desires for the fun simple times of his youth that he could never fulfill as an adult despite his immense wealth and power.
The movie itself is pretty good and if you understand the cinematographic revolutions and social implications of the film it becomes a very interesting film to watch for both its well written story and good acting and its contributions to the development of cinema in the United States.

Rosebud is his sled from his childhood....It was special to him because it reminded him of a time when things were simple and he was happy. Charles Foster Kane was a rich and powerful man but it cost him happiness and his childhood. The sled was a reminder of when he was truly happy.

It shows that he remembered the time when he had been most happy, and that was riding his sled when he was a poor boy before he became so wealthy and powerful. Money cannot buy happiness is a message here.

rose bud is the name of his sled. the movie is a thinly veiled biopic about William Randolf Hurst and was very difficult to see at the time it was released. anyone who was involved was almost blacklisted by the Hurst family.
