Equation given: 2N2H4+N2O4 -> 3N2+ 4H2O
If u begin with 400 g of N2H4 and 900 g of N2O4..

A. Find the number of grams of water produced, assuming the reaction goes to completion.

B. Find the number of moles of nitrogen produced, assuming the reaction goes to completion.

C. Find the mass of excess reactant left over at the conclusion of the reaction.

Molecular mass N2H4 = 32 g/mol

400 g / 32 =12.5 moles N2H4

Molecular mass N2O4 = 92 g / mol

900 g / 92 = 9.78 moles N2O4

the ratio between N2H4 and N2O4 is 2 : 1 so N2H4 is the limiting reactant

the ratio between N2H4 and H2O is 2 : 4

2 : 4 = 12.5 : x

x = 25 moles H2O (MM =18 g/mol) >> 450 g


the ratio between N2H4 and N2 is 2 : 3

2 : 3 = 12.5 = x

x = 18.7 moles N2 produced


the ratio between N2H4 and N2O4 is 2 : 1

2 : 1 = 12.5 : x

x = 6.25 moles N2O4 needed for the reaction

we have in excess 9.78 - 6.25 = 3.53 moles

3.53 mole x 92 g/mol = 324.8 g in excess

2N2H4 + N2O4 -> 3N2 + 4H2O

molar mass N2H4 = 30, N2O4 = 92

400gr N2H4 = 40/3 moles = 13.33 moles
900 gr N2O4 = 900/92 moles = 9.78 moles

water produces = 4/2 x 13.33 = 26.66 moles = 479.88 gram

Nitrogen = 3/2 x 13.33 = 19.99 moles

the N2O4 which is not reacted = 9.78 - 0.5 x 13.33
= 3.115 moles = 286.58 grams

A)Moles of N2H4 = 400/38 = 10.526
Moles of N2O4 = 900/92 = 9.783

Limiting reactant is N2H4

Thus moles of water = 2*10.526 = 21.052

Weight of water = 21.052*18 = 378.936 g

B) Moles of N2 = 3*10.526/2 = 15.789

C) Mass of N2O4 left = (9.783-5.263)*92 = 415.84 g

2 HCl + Na2CO3 ? 2 NaCl + CO2 + H2O (0.750 L) x (0.500 mol/L Na2CO3) x (2 mol HCl/ a million mol Na2CO3) / (2.50 mol/L HCl) = 0.3 hundred L HCl It seems such as you forgot that it takes 2 moles of HCl for each mole of Na2CO3.
