I just read a story in the news about a wedding in India where the groom turned up apparently Sloshed out of his skull, the Brides family decided he was too drunk and refused to let him marry her so his younger brother stepped in and married her instead. The original groom was spotted crying after the ceremony and when asked he was said to have claimed he was upset because he wouldn't get another bride, is this the weirdest one you've heard or can you top it.?

Freakyfunguy I hope you weren't offended by the wording , I mean no disrespect to anyone but from a western perspective that's a really odd situation.

Well I am from India, and well i guess thats kind of general. We get married to people that we dont even know so it doesnt matter whether she got married to him or to her brother. The older brother will get another bride after some time.
We in India believe in love after marriage( i knw westener 's dont understand the concept behind this) ... but we believe its all about accepting the person as he is( but he must be good at heart) and making sacrifices for each other. We believe that after mariage that person is our partner for life and it is he who we should be by at all times ... Thats all i can say about this ...

It's crazy.
Although Freakyfunguy explained about love after marriage
being their belief, it's beyond belief that a marriage partner
can be replaced so easily. I wonder what the bride thought!
and whether she was relieved or upset at not marrying the
man she thought she would. Perhaps we should all know
more about different cultures. It might make us appreciate our own more.
Can't understand Cheryl B's comment about a homosexual
where does that come into it.

Wow. That is certianly interesting story.... weirder things have happened. Indians have different outlook on culture than to ours.... I wish the newly weds all the best for the future and I hope that the ditched groom gets himself sorted out!

Not sure but I'll try. When I split up with my ex and we were battling for support, I received a letter from support collection asking if I wanted their services to enforce support. I was mad at the time and said I did because my ex had fallen into the hole he had dug for himself. I addressed the letter to the name at the bottom of the letter. It turned out the person whose name was on the letter was dead and had been dead for years but support collection never updated their letterhead- so I wrote a letter to a dead man who was already in "the hole" about digging a hole-LOL
