Dear spliff,

Dude there will always be Kobe haters. It's funny that everyone says he orchestrated the trade for Shaq out of L.A. but everyone first forgets that Shaq was overweight (he lost a lot of weight once he got to Miami- and look at his ankle injury last year) and look at how quickly he's gotten old. The Lakers as an organization didn't make enough of an effort to bridge the gap and more than that- they could have gotten a lot more for what they got for Shaq. More than that when Shaq wanted a 7yr extension and calls out Dr. Buss during a pre-season game- i'm just saying Kobe was a factor- but Shaq was a bigger factor in leaving L.A.

The rest of this team is pathetic. Smush Parker as your starting point guard for 2 seasons straight. How can Jim Buss and Mitch say the Lakers can contend with the top teams in the West when Smush couldn't make any of the rosters for Dallas, San Antonio, Phoenix, etc.

Luke Walton is a good role player but couldn't start on any other team in the West.

Lamar Odom has a world of talent- but is the biggest waste of talent ever.

And Kwame Brown has the physique but is dumb as rocks and can't catch a basketball to save his life.

Combine that with the rest of the junk on the bench (except maybe Moe Evans) and it's a sad bunch. The truth is i'm surprised the Lakers are even in the playoffs because without Kobe they might win 15 games all season.

I don't know if Artest would have helped because he's not a consistent 2nd scorer and he's such a head case, but something has to change in L.A.

Laker fans are mad and rightfully so. Pick up some better players and before that bring back Jerry West and fire Mitch!

Go Lakers!

PS: Bynum looks like a ninja turtle, but moves like Master Splintor.

i was a huge lakers fan back in the shaq-kobe days...however, i've always disapproved of kobe always wanting to be the center of all the attention. he wanted lakers to be his team. he wanted the ball to be in his hands. he wanted crappy players so he doesn't have to pass the ball... yes, he is a great scorer. but other than that, he's not much else...

he has a decent supporting cast, i believe. dwyane wade managed to take the heat into the playoffs with odom, butler and brian grant. kobe just makes everyone around him worse. bynum is a good player, definitely not as good as artest...but it was reasonable to stick with his potential than to go for artest's insanities. the lakers need another big player to make it big though... perhaps a good point guard to take the ball off of kobe's hands and get the others more involved...maximize radmanovic's shooting and odom and walton's flexibility.

kobe wanted LA to be kobe city...now he has it, i hope he's happy being the center of all attention now. no, i don't feel sorry for kobe. i feel sorry for the lakers though...

hes the youngest player in the league and got his first significant minutes this year, and he will be part of the rebuilt team...you have no idea what is going on with the lakers...mitch was directed to start the rebuilding process...so they are...this off season the team will make a move for a marquee player maybe two...what it will cost and who will stay will depend on who the player coming in is... and if you think artest would survive in LA without getting in trouble youre wrong...Doc does not like owning a loser, and a couple of weeks ago we were in his box in Staples, about the time the Seattle game was ending someone said to Doc... 'Kobe carried us again' said 'hes been doing it all year' and had a disgusted look on his face...a number of people there by invitation and a few of the guys working for the organization mentioned offhand that it would be nice to pick up so and so or so and so...kobe will have one more chance to lead a team deep into the playoffs or make a title run...either this fall or next fall everyone should be in place...

Feel sorry for him? HA! Kobe is such a cry baby he would hate for anyone to get any of his attention. He couldn't even rape someone without bringing Shaq into it. He has to have people around him he can blame **** on anyways.

dude kobe bryant is a multi millionaire.. if he loses 2 million that would somewhat result him. he has his very own signature shoes and nike nonetheless pays him. And if the the NBA dies out basketball will consistently be there. yet another league could start up or they are going to easily flow to eu leagues and it may be basically as thrilling. by using fact fairly much nba participant could make it unquestionably to the euro league..

Just a question. How the hell can Kobe be a hogger when he's a SHOOTING GUARD who's doing his job and he's got the most assists in the team this season?

I feel sorry for him. But people need to stop saying he's better than MJ, because he is not. MJ made everyone in his team better, Kobe does not do that. He is a one man team.

Not me. He destroyed the Lakers by getting Shaq shipped out to Miami. He wanted the Lakers to be "his team". Are you happy now, ballhog? He will never win again.
