Guy above me who said he is doing it for fame has some seriously faulty logic. He is already famous. He was freakin' born notorious. But i've asked myself that same question. If i was a prince, Hell no I wouldn't go. Hellllll no. I don't understand it either. I don't understand why the Royal Family would want him in the military first off. They are supposed to be above the commoners. So none of it makes any sense to me. The ONLY thing i can think of is that he is desperate to be "one of the people". But, yeah, WTH.

Prince Harry is a brave young man and this is something he has always wanted to do. Since Prince William is next in line, I think the Royal Family cannot prevent him from going.
I think Diana would have been proud.

No hes not insane ,the orders come from up above. Those scummy terrorists wont get anywhere near him anyway. What would be the cry if he bottled out or wasnt required to go. Everyone would say he was shown favouritism. Its not the first time a royal has fought,Prince Andrew fought in the Falklands war. Personally i wish him a safe and speedy return, and to all our boys out there.

The British Royal Family have always had people in the military. It makes sense to Harry to go with his troops. He's a soldier, that's what he does. He doesn't want special treatment and I think that's admiral, not insane.

He says he's trained for this and wants to go. I imagine Harry and William want to lead "normal" lives and not receive special treatment. I'm actually shocked that his family is letting him go. I think Diana would be very scared for him. He'll be a major target and I just can't see how this is a safe and smart move for him and the troops with him. But, he seems to be a very determined young man who's choosing to place himself in a very dangerous situation. Scary!

sense of duty?...I don't think the heir to the throne wouldn't be permitted to do the same but the same happened in the early 80s when prince andrew was flying helicopters while charles stayed at home. I actually feel more sorry for william who i'm sure would love to be able to do the same but has his entire life already planned for him.
