My husband and I have been having unprotected sex for over a year now and I still haven't gotten pregnant... We just don't have sex that much.. maybe 1-3 times a week, should I go to the doc and see if we do have problems? Or do you think it's because we don't have sex enough?

Well it really depends if you know you have sex around ovulation. If you are aware of your fertile days and have sex at least a couple of times around then i would say why not just go and get the tests? I have just finished them all and its peace of mind to know everything is ok. What harm can it do, you can still be trying and the tests arent embarrassing or painful. That way if there is a problem you can be getting it sorted out. You dont need to be 'at it like rabbits' to become pregnant , a couple of times around ovulation should be enough. Sperm lives inside you a while and batches of it take turns to swim to the egg over 2 or 3 days. You are eligible for tests after a year so if youre worried just make an appointment x

Time to see a doc and make sure there are no problems, sometimes incidentally, too much sex is as bad as not enough, to get pregnant you only need to have sex when you are ovulating, thats the only time you can get pregnant, about 5 days per month. Too much sex, while fun, can lower his tadpole count and reduce your chances.

On any given cycle you only have a 25% chance of conception. After you have been trying for 12 months without success it is recommended you see a fertility specialist that will test you for PCOS, premature menopause (scary but true) and thyroid probs etc

It can be a long road to conception but in my experience and for those that i know all have success eventually - for some it can be harder than others.

Good luck - the time is now to see a Dr and suss out why it hasnt happened.

I have a similar case. I have been trying for about three years. I have a syndrome called Poly-cystic ovarian syndrome PCOS, and that is stopping me from being a mother. I would seriously talk with your doctor. There could be a reason why you aren't getting pregnant. Could be a small issue, you may not be producing enough estrogen, but it wouldn't hurt to find out why your not able to conceive!

I'm 23 years old & my doctor told me to come in for a fertility work up if we were ttc for 6 months & didn't end up pregnant. Everything I've always heard has been to check with a doctor after you've been trying for a year.

I agree with the first statement. Send you hubby to the doctor. He will provide a "sample" and the check it out to make sure all is okay there. Its simple and inexpensive. Once that is out of the way, check with your doctor on what you might do....like taking over the counter prenatal vitamins for example.

1 - 3 times a week is plenty.
You need to see a doctor. Be sure to have your husband's sperm count checked.

It's not quantity which gets you pregnant. Sometimes you need another year, before you should worry or do any intervention. When that time comes, have him get checked out first - his part is easy to test. Then, move on to you.

Sometimes a mineral or vitamin deficiency can cause fertility problems (such as folic acid). Another thing worth checking may be Celiac disease. It's only one possible cause but one that is often overlooked by doctors.
