I have only had 2 c-sections but my Dr asked me how many more children I was going to have. I told him I wasn't sure and asked how many more I could have. he said as many as I wanted and said he had just done a woman's 6th c-section the week before! He explained the procedure takes a little longer and it a little more complicated for him but I could have more if I wanted. He said nothing about more bleeding. They are ready and waiting for any emergency when you are at the hospital. They can give her more blood if you would ever need it. please dont be scared honey!!

Hi, i have had only one and now i am going to have another. I was told i could have up to 3 safely and any more after that i would have to be monitored. You will not bleed to death!
Your mumj probably thinks this cause in her time things were all different and they did not really know too much about c-sections as such.
Talk to the doctor anyway, you will be fine. Just try relax for now. Have a look on the internet as well.
All the best. You are going to have your hands full with 4 kids!!

Someone I know is having their 4th c-section in about 3 weeks. She is a nurse and works with top doctors. They have only said the scar tissue will be harder to cut through but at no time have the said that she will bleed to death or is in a life threatning situation! Not all doctors will do the operation, (some doctors don't even like to do a 2nd c-section) but a specialist will. It will take longer to recover than your 1st c-section.
Really don't worry - talk to your doctor or specialist and enjoy your pregnancy. Mother's don't always know best!

Since you asked, then i'm not going to lie and say 'yeah its alright.' Because it's not alright. I've had 3 c-sections. The last one was only 14 months ago. After he was born my doctor told me it would be best not to have anymore because the more c-sections you have, then the thinner the cut will be. And you'll have more scarred tissue behind it.
With all the new technology today, i'm sure you'll be just fine though! Just be sure to get your tubes tied afterwards. Good luck!!!

Anytime you have major surgery there are risks, they are not going to cut through scar tissue that won't heal properly. You will not bleed to death. Tell your mom you appreciate her concern but to keep her scary thoughts to herself for now. Talk with your doctor about it, if you are really just terrified, he can cut through non-scarred tissue to deliver this baby. The more c-sections you have, the more dangerous it can become as the tissue loses its ability to heal but if one scar is worth a healthy baby, two will be. Don't worry about it, you won't die, this isn't some third-world hellhole with no running water. You will be fine.

I have not had a c-section myself, but I just looked up "multiple c-sections" on Google and found a discussion board that discusses this. I think a lot of the ladies who responded have had four or more c-sections and are sharing their experiences. Check it out, hope this helps: http://www.drspock.com/discussion/message/0,1812,121273,00.html

dont be scared. i havent had one, but my mom had 5, and she's perfectly fine. i've never heard of after 4 it wasnt safe. as long as everything's healthy and fine, it should go the same as the first 3, nothing different.
