Be careful with this. I know 2 men who were "offered work" in Nigeria, and it turned out to be a scam both times. Have you googled these names?

You would be classed as self employed and your tax allowances would be taken into account at the end of the tax year when you should get a refund from the Inland Revenue. However, I would be very dubious about trusting an employer in Nigeria to pay money deducted from your salary to the appropriate source in this country. Nigeria is known as the capital fraud country of the world.

Please immediately go to the State Department site and read all the warnings about scams and cons in Nigeria. It is a business there, and many Americans have been taken for lots of money. Let me guess: this lawyer needs payment to work out your "immigration" status and handle work permits or something, am I right? Steer clear of any supposed offers coming out of Nigeria; they are not legit.
