They are all good schools. But if you want to get in as a freshman, you had better have the grades...
If you don't have the grades, you might want to consider going to a two-year community college and take some general ed classes that will transfer to a four-year university, and then have your community college counselor help you apply as a transfer student. You can get your GE requirements completed at a much cheaper cost while giving college life a try to see if you can do it.
You might want to visit those school campuses in person and see if you like the neighborhood. USC is awesome (Fight on Trojans!! Beat the Bruins!) but it is smack dab in South Central Los Angeles with the Crips and the Bloods living in the surrounding neighborhoods and East L.A. with the Chicanos and the lowriders a hop skip and a jump away. Notre Dame is wonderful but Chicago and the night life is a long way away. UCLA is in the middle of Westwood and has a great night life but the rents for housing are so astronomical you need to be independently wealthy to afford it. Cal is okay, but Berkeley can get really really liberal and off the deep end in their creation and spreading of greenhouse gases by all their expostulating.
It might be better to check out your local state college and see if their program is better for you, and cheer for your favorite teams on tv.

Admissions officers say grades are the most important thing, that it's important to take the most challenging courses and perform well, but the top schools also like to see something that demonstrates leadership. That can vary a lot from starting an after-school program to solving a community need to writing a book to tutoring kids, etc. Community service is a given as are high SATs and SAT IIs (700s) or major athletic talent. It's unbelievable competitive and even if you have all the qualifications, nothing is for sure, so apply to a range of schools and good luck!

Almost all colleges have some kind of information on their websites about the qualifications of their incoming classes. They do this partly to brag, but mainly so that kids who are not in line with their level of students won't waste money applying. Check the stats at Duke, etc and see if you match up. If you do, then you have to think about what else these kids have - extracurriculars, AP credits, etc. If you arent equal to them, then there is no secret way for you to get in. You are going to be turned down.
You can check rankings on OSU and other colleges, and basic information about a lot of schools, at princetonreview.com or collegeboard.com. And rankings are at US News Rankings (google)
I suggest that you go to the library and ask the librarian for a book on "How to Choose a College" - there are some excellent examples of these books, so you can learn a lot about how to choose a school that is right for you.
Good Luck!

Uh...High GPA...like at LEAST a 3.0 to even be considered at a place like ND or Duke...In California, UC Berkley is the academic powerhouse, not UC Davis...OSU is a good school...not as tough to get into as ND or Duke...They are private schools...OSU is public...

www.collegeboard.com is an easy way to compare schools. You can find out admission criteria, percentage of applicants admitted, average SAT scores, rank of average student in graduating class, etc. There is also a search feature to find schools based on your intended area of study, region of the U.S., size of school, etc.
