Help!

Can someone please explain what general trends there are in Ionisation Energies across the following series of metals:

Sc, Ti, V, Cr, Mn, Fe, Co, Ni, Cu, Zn


I am having a hard time seeing the trends for the third ionisation energies only (not the first, and second).

Any help would be really appreciated.

Increases upto Iron, stabilises, rises a bit at Cu, then falls.

1. Ionization energy values are typically very high and follow trends throughout the periodic table. The IE increase from bottom to top and left to right in the periodic table. 2. For atomic size, the size increases from right to left and from top to bottom. From this, you can say that the IE and atomic size increase in opposite directions. This should make sense because as the atom gets smaller, the valence electrons become closer to the nucleus. This means the attractive force holding the electron is stronger and it takes more energy to pull the electron off.

i'm not too sure without looking at the numbers, but i would presume that the enthalpies are not as big as the 1st and 2nd would suggest.
I reckon it is down to the first two being taken from the s orbital and the third being removed from the d shell.
Like i say i need the number to be sure.
