plenty of good backs were available in the late rounds, but the browns went all defense instead. even the last pick went to a nobody WR, they should have grabbed Darrius Walker. He would have made an excellent compliment to Jamal Lewis. Do you think they will make a move in free agency to acquire a speedier back than Lewis?

They will sign another back to go with Lewis in the backfield. Probably to a 1 year contract. Running back is the one position that you can strike gold in any round or even free agency. It was more important to give them someone to run behind. Plus my feeling is if they would have taken Peterson with the first pick, Quinn would have never got past Minnesota.

They needed other positions more than RB. Harrison and Wright already give a good speed compliment to Lewis. Darrius Walker is not a speed back at all. They can get another RB next year, the really needed help on the OL and anywhere on the defensive side. They couldn't draft Peterson because the risk of him being injured, the same reason they did not pick Quinn at three, there would have been too much risk involved. Thomas was the safe and better pick.

There was a bigger need elsewhere. We needed an offensive linemen, a quarterback, a cornerback, a runningback, and defensive linemen because the defense linemen are all over 30 yrs. old. I think 4 good players out of five is not that bad. We have runningbacks that will be good next year I thought Jason Wright played very well toward the end of the year. Our O-line is going to be 10x better than last year.

The Browns had the worst defense in their division last season, the fourth worst in their confrence and 11th worst in the NFL. The Brown also have to compete with the Ravens which easily had the best defense in the league. The spread between the Browns and the Ravens was 115 PF 155 PA. As you can see the Browns need to stop the other team from scoring more than they need to out shoot their opponents.

They didn't need another RB. Their Def needed a major boost.

(RB Roster)
Jamal Lewis, RB 5-11 245
(no explantion needed)

Jerome Harrison, RB 5-9 199
(3rd year back showed upside last year fillin in for Droughns)

Jason Wright, RB 5-10 210
(4th year back also showed upside in filling in)

Chris Barclay, RB 5-10 180
(Rookie from last year)

They should have drafted Adrian Peterson. Jamal Lewis is slowing down big time so they'll be looking for a back next year anyways.

The Browns didn't feel they needed to address the need of the RB in the draft. Its funny that all of us and I'm guilty too think that we can make these decisions and question the decisions of our teams but how many of us actually work in our teams front office?
