She earns her keep like you or me
But keeps it veiled in secrecy.
For if you ever knew her game
You know the past from whence she came:
An ordinary simple girl
Who, like an oyster, has a pearl.
But hers is not for all to see,
Instead it's for the one to be
Her shining knight and man-at-arms
Who'll keep her safe from all life's harms,
And hold her close and hold her dear
And wipe away her every tear.
But that man has not found her yet
So like a mermaid in a net
To save her life, she entertains
And frees us from our daily strains
That wear us down, but we can't see
Inside her eyes that silent plea:
To have your laugh, then let her be.
She's just the same as you or me.
