It's hard to tell right now, but IMHO, it'll be a close race between Hillary, Obama, Giuliani, and McCain. It's too bad that third party politics hardly ever plays a role in U.S. elections, other than to become the scapegoat when an utterly incompetent person gets elected to office.

I'm not too thrilled about any of the currently declared candidates, but then again I'm neither a Democrat nor a Republican, and the party that I'm a member of doesn't have any declared candidates yet.

So far as the primaries go, I think it's a fairly good race among Clinton, Obama, and Edwards for the Democratic nomination. I have a feeling that Clinton and Obama supporters may the gender or race card when speaking to people, which personally annoys me (as if being a racial minority or a woman makes you more progressive, has anyone heard of Ezola Foster?) In terms of issues I'm interested in, John Edwards seems like the most tolerable Democrat on the list. Then again, I'm not going to vote Democratic anyway, so it doesn't matter so much.

As for the Republicans, I really have no idea. Mitt Romney is, somewhat quixotically, an apparent frontrunner. PJ O'Rourke recently said that it's probably difficult for Romney to be taken seriously in the Republican Party, since he was just the governor of Massachusetts. In O'Rourke's words, "it's kind of like applying for Pope with 'past officeholding experience: head rabbi in Jerusalem.'" Most of the lead Republicans have a fairly good power base and are fairly well known. It might end up being a campaign against Guilani and McCain. I personally like Ron Paul, not so much for his political stances (he's rather libertarian, and I'm a socialist), but just for the fact that he's a freaking maverick. While I doubt he'd win the nomination, he'd shake up the Republican Party a bit. I may just register Republican to vote for him in the primaries, despite my vehement disagreements with his politics.

Obama and Hillary will have too tough of a primary, too nasty, for either one to ask the other to be VP.

I think the one that wins the primary will probably ask Richardson, he would really help Obama, and Hillary too.

The GOP side looks like the real power brokers are still on the sidelines, but with PBS running a special on the positive side of the Mormons, looks like a push for Romney.

Hillary Clinton will resurrect the projects of Bill Clinton, Barack Obama will empower the colored people, John McCain and Rudolph Giuliani will strengthen the war on terror.

VOTE for your choice as US President on my 360 degrees blog and know who will likely win.

Hillary = too power hungry and w/o any agendas
Edwards = too interested in being the Breck boy
Obama = no experience whatsoever, too scary to think about.
Mitt = one honest guy with a credible resume
Giulini = brilliant lawyer who takes charge
Fred Thompson = all around great, he needs to enter.
McCain = not getting my vote!

On the democrat side, they are a bunch of double-talking anti-war wimps.

On the republican side, they are the biggest bunch of non-conservatives Ive ever seen offered. Half of them are abortionists for crying out loud!

I think its going to come down to Al Gore and probably either McCain or Juiliani. Obama and Clinton seem very unelectable and I think if either of them get the nomination it will be a landslide republican election.

i think it'll be Obama for the Dems, and if he picks an older, tougher, competent running mate he'll be tough to beat. Too many people REALLY dislike Hillary and people will sense she can't win.

For Rep, as long as they aren't a neo-con, we can't lose. I think the only guy that can win for them right now is Rudy, and the religious right doesn't seem to like him very much. it'll be interesting.

I'm very excited about the Democratic nominees.
I am openly hoping that Hillary will win the primaries and have Obama as her Vice President.
They will make a formidable team.

The Republicans are just old old old.
Old , obstinate with dubious track records.
Some are even adding names of people who may not wished to be added.
