I want to recycle an old defective laptop. I have a desktop cpu and I wonder if I can use the laptop lcd screen for a desktop monitor. What should I do?

You don't, since you have to design a whole video card from scratch.

Sell the LCD screen on eBay. Someone will buy it since it's far often that someone smashed the screen but the rest of the computer still runs. THEN they do a screen transplant, and voila, whole computer.

The laptop has a circuit board that connects to the monitor that is not compatible with your desktop's video card. You could have someone make adjustments but it would be a lot cheaper just to buy a flatscreen.

Ya like Goerge mentioned, look for a unfastened or a inexpensive exhibit screen on Craigslist and hook it on your pc to apply it and see. many times, the exhibit is the main costly area of a pc, extra perfect to get a clean pc, new one or an used one on Craigslist or may well be something like an Ipad or Google nexus 7.

Befriend an engineer 'cause who knows what kinda cable they used to connect the screen to the motherboard.

doesnt work that way, 99 percent of laptops are only video out not video in.
