what is the meaning of this statement " teachers everywhere have been regarded as a role model"?

It means that they are looked up to in their positions as educators, or as adults in general. They are people who you would want your children to be like. In their ROLE, they are a MODEL for good behavior.

Students learn from observing their teachers,just like children look up to adults to learn by watching. What the "role model" does,how he talks,what he wears and how he behaves are all an influence on those watching.
