any perfect trinomial is going to follow the same pattern:
a^2 + 2ab + b^2

for example:
1) x^2 - 2*x*1 + 1
2) 4x^2 + 2*2x*y + y^2

A + B squared is A^2 + 2AB + B^2
If you can recognize this pattern, you can see which are perfect squares.
Like: x^2 + 2x +1 or 9y^2 +12yz + 4z^2
