Most of these are t-shirt surgery, meaning you reconstruct an old tee into a new shrug.

I have a simple pattern. It is a word document I could send to you.
Also checked the internet and found There is a free shrug pattern on this page. On the right side under categories click on free and then click on shrug and it will let you download. http://www.fitzpatterns.com/

There is a pattern here for a faux fur shrug, but you could use any material --

Also if you search more try cocoon coat as well as shrug.

Good Luck! ~-~

I don't know of any freebies, but it is an easy thing to sew, and lots of 99 cent patterns at JoAnns, or available online at http://www.mccall.com/.
