I've been working on both for about 15 years and the best answer is....it depends on what you want to use it for. And it's really very close for most of it.

Gaming? PC. You get more games that are compatible.

Layout & Design? Mac. All the great programs (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) are Adobe based, which began as compatible with Macintosh, but are now good for either.

MS Office suite comes standard on the Mac now, but was originally for PC only. You have to buy this suite separately for the PC now.

PCs are susceptible to viruses, but nobody has bothered to write bugs to attack the Mac yet.

Sometimes it is personal preference. PC enthusiasts enjoy w/ their hardware a lot. They like a nice aluminum case with the best power supply unit that could handle any load you throw at it. They want a processor w/ good overclocking headroom paired with a full-featured motherboard that has almost all the tweaking options. They want a good-looking hi-performance cooling solution with an option to monitor and control it on the front panel. They want the best graphics card that their wallet could afford. They want easy and fast upgradeability. Others want "bling-blings" and everything to make their PC unique.

I just happen to be one of them, that's why I think I'll never enjoy a Mac, only a Big Mac.

PC and MAC are different. I cannot say which one is better and which one is not, because they have different points.

I am currently using Macbook with Windows and Mac OS X loaded on the hard drive. Mostly I use Windows, and I switch back to Mac OS X to work on multimedia jobs, like creating music with garage band and stuffs like that.

I have a Windows desktop and a Macbook. Windows is very user-friendly but I think they get attacked by viruses easily. More softwares are more suitable for Windows too I guess. Macbook is pretty, and I've gotten used to the keys and stuff. It's really neat and is suitable for designers. Good Luck. :)
