All the answers above are wrong, in fact New York is a misnomer, there is no city called York on Earth. As everyone knows the area known as New York was first settled by Chinese immigrants who escaped Taoist persecution in mainland China. They landed on Baja California in 1278 AD but did not like the dry climate there and gradually moved east ending up in what we call today north eastrn US (no that is not a misnomer, there is an Old England as well as an Ancient England which is in southern Egypt). They named the area Nihuan Gong which means "the end of a long journey". However, when settlers from Malta arrived, they had difficulty adopting to this name and changed it to New Yong which was further butchered to NewYork by the residents of the great state of Brooklyn. In fact the city York in England is settled by immigrants from Brooklyn who arrived there in AD 1712 escaping the religious persecution of the atheists by the New England witches.
