I live in Florida, and there is a situation I know of where there is a student living with a teacher but I am pretty sure the administration and the school board is unaware about it. It is a female student and a female teacher, but still, isn't there a law of some sort to prevent this? I know there is one that exists that will not allow student/teacher car pooling... if not car pooling.. why should living together be legal?

******There is no surrogate guardianship in place between the teacher and the student. I know for a fact that administrations has not been notified as the choice has taken place over a period of a week and a half. It was a fast move from the students home to the teachers home****** edited

Quite possibly this teacher has taken this young lady under her wing to help her out. Unless you know of some type of abuse involved, then I would keep my mouth shut., it would only cause problems for both of them. If every one seems happy with the arrangement, then don't get involved

If there is some sort of guardianship in place then the living situation is fine.
I suspect the school administration does know about it. Been too much hostile press about students and teachers lately for them not to know what the teachers are up to.

You should advise the school administration right away. It is not normal for teacher-student live-in situations together. The student is easy and can be manipulated...apparently the teacher has some mental health issues and it spells danger; not a positive thing.
Tell the administration about it so at least you know you did the right thing in case you could prevent something more serious from happening. Teachers should not be living with their students. Your suspicions are correct.

No, there is not any official laws forbidding a teacher and student to live together, regardless of relation. As long as the cause is of professional manner and there are legitimate reasons for the arrangement, then the justice system cannot intervene.

Never heard of car pooling being illegal. But are they living together as a guardian and child, or boyfriend and girlfriend? And how old is the student? If he is 18, he is legally grown.

I have to read the law, but in general the answer is that as far as they are both have consent there is no law to prevent them. Also there should be no conflict of interest, which means student should not go to same school as teacher

Under the law, there is no prohibition for a teacher to cohabit with a student. However, school laws may prohibit this relationship if detrimental to the interests of other students.
Thus, you can report them anonymously so that appropriate action will be taken by the school officials.

No there's no law, but I'm sure it's in the teachers code of conduct that they can't bring a student into thier home. But hey if they're both female, you know nothing bad is going on, so leave them be.

Occupation of the guardian of a child has no bearing in most matters. Ever think this teacher could be a relative or very close family friend? Would it be illegal if YOU were the teacher & your step-daughter or niece were living with you, or you adopted a child of your own?
The schools by us in PA encourage parents & guardians to involve themselves in the classrooms as aides & even substitutes...most of our office personnel is somebody's Mom in the school or the school system. How's this by you?

More details please.
There's no law to prevent a minor from living with a custodial guardian, no. If the guardian is a teacher and they have custody of a child who is their student or someone else's, that doesn't make it illegal. Why would you think it would?
