Depends on what its for. Most often, I think academic probation is pretty common. If you don't get your grades up, you are out. I was never a disciplinary problem, so I don't know how those are dealt with.

Depends on the nature of the events. I'm assuming it is plagiarism or something similar. In such case the student will be placed on probation typically or discharged from the University if his charge is too big.
