Congratulations on wanting to get rid of your IVY. It harbors rats and snails and overwhelms "good" plants!!
IVY is a VERY tough plant. Step #1, you need to rough up the leaves. You might even want to "mow" them with your lawn mower or cut them up with a weed whacker. The leaves are almost like plastic and unless they are roughed up, the sprays do no good. Step #2 Water well, to get the leaves growing again. Next day or two, Step #3 Spray with Round Up. Drench the leaves. A hot day is best! Round Up goes down to the roots to kill the plant. It may take up to a week before you see the leaves turning brown. Step #4 After the plants turn brown, pull out the vines and dig up the roots as best you can. Step #5 water well and wait a couple of weeks. Repeat from #1 if needed!!!
Good Luck!!

Use a spray called 2-4D, available at any home depot or lowes. Spray it with a hose end sprayer, add a few drops of hand dishwashing detergent. You may have to re-spray 1 or 2 times to be effective. regards, bob.

Try some of the suggestions in the forum listed below. Also, if you have a local agriculture center or extension agent in your area (might be a county agency), perhaps they can give you some tips.
