you pretty much hit the nail on the head. Look at any question... even if it really does not pit one political party against another... you will have the same talking points.

Answer this for me: How can some of the conservatives stand out against abortion spouting off about the sanctity of life, yet when it comes to helping the poor, they don't want to have any part of it? Are infants more important than those already alive? And how is abortion more important than any other issue in this country, especially when abortion only affects those immediately involved, and may be needed for medical reasons?

I'll tell you what I think it may be: the need to control other people, and the idea that you are the only person who matters in this society (and possibly on the earth, for that matter).

And maybe some of you believe that all of the poor wouldn't be that way, if they'd just work harder.

But, what if they are already working hard, cannot afford a better education (college), and their current job, no matter how hard they work, does not want to pay them anymore? What if when they've looked around at other places they are eligible to be hired and those places pay even less?

I worked 2 years at a company where I got paid $6.35 an hour ( I had hoped they would promote me, as they kept telling me what a great job I was doing, but they never did offer anything to me-not even a raise): I had over 6 years of experience in retail prior (I got laid off), in many different positions, but they would only make me a cashier, because they did not want to pay me for my experience they said I was "overqualified"

I am not saying there needs to be things just handed out to everyone-I am saying that we should have some support systems in place to help people who need it to achieve their goals, and to eventually make them successful enough to pay their own way (there will always be some that don't go any farther-it can't be helped-we should not let them starve, but we do need some sort of monitors/system in place to make sure all of those people are genuinely in need, and not just milking the system.)

Now, if we could all stop bickering and come to a middle ground we could get so much more done.

Obama wants to help us do that:

Actually, there are many intelligent liberals on this forum. There are also many intelligent conservatives, and at least one moderate.

Since I have been polite enough to answer your question, perhaps you can tell me why so many of the nonintelligent conservatives feel entitled to belittle anybody who disagrees with them? Democracy is the product of civil disagreement and compromise. Why can't you partisan extremists get it through your thick skulls that the vast majority of us are sick of your vilification and slander?

Were you Republicans not listening during the last elections? Do we need to elect Mrs. Clinton before you understand we are tired of your crap, and will do whatever it takes to make you behave like gentlemen.

With a ballooning deficit and an unwinnable war, you Bush Leaguers should start listening to the public, or we will feed you an eight year Clintonburger. Bon appetit.

You are none too bright yourself asking such an insipid inflammatory question ? Back up your question with examples and evidence that nothing intelligent is said on this sight and then your question can be properly answered.

You have always been a C-D student ... right?

If you knew anything about liberal politics, you would know that there is plenty of disagreement and constant debate among liberals.

You guys are the "dittoheads" with your patriarchal figures (O'Reilly, Cheney, Rush, etc.) telling you what to think.

"Dittohead". Really, how pathetic is that?

Every once in a while something intelligent winds up in 1 of their posts. I'm sure it is an accident when it happens.

It is against their nature to ever say anything intelligent. Don't you know that? That is why they are so scary.
