The most effective way to reduce weight is to have low calorie diet, which must have a lot of salad, very little rice or bread and the vegetable should be replaced by salad. Cut down on carbohydrate with practically no intake in any form of fat. Even if you have to drink milk, it should be skimmed. Do not take sugar instead use sweetener.
Walk for 4 miles a day. Going to gym will not help much. It is muscle builder place, not a weight reducer one.

There are a few things you can do to lose weight quickly and not get sick doing it.
First, DO NOT reduce your food consumption or caloric intake - this will only make losing weight a lot harder. Instead, try to split up when you eat your meals so that your body is constantly processing food and, thus, increasing your metabolism. Generally, you'll want to eat a snack every 2 to 3 hours to keep your body processing the energy. Drinking a lot of water (I'd say double the daily requirement - and cold water, because it takes more calories to heat it up to be processed) is also a good way to keep these bodily functions up.
Second, focus on WHAT you eat. Eliminate processed foods, artificial sugars, and bad carbs. This means: no sweets, no candy, no soda. Carbs are okay...just make sure that they come in the form of whole grain or wheat products. High protein diets are also very healthy and will help increase muscle production (which, in turn, will increase your caloric consumption and will make you lose more weight). Don't eliminate any one group from your diet...just try and have a healthy balance and avoid foods that you should recognize as bad for you (fried foods, etc.).
As for your gym routine, I'd recommend starting off with 30-45 minutes of cardio on either the treadmill or eliptical machine to get your heart rate up and build up your resistance. You will probably want to do weight lifting exercises for 30-45 minutes as well and only target certain muscle groups every day. Don't do your legs, for instance, without giving them a day or two to recover. The same goes for ab muscles, which also need some downtime to recover. Try concluding your workout with 20-25 of light cardio to cool down and re-start your metabolism for the rest of the day.

if you want to lose weight, you have to watch what you eat. basically if you eat less and exercise more, you will lose weight. as far as a diet goes, i can't really suggest anything for you because a diet that might work for me, might not work for you. so you can find one online and choose the one that is best for you and stick with it. try to cut out soda from your diet at least, and watch how much carbs you eat, you'll see a BIG difference. have someone to hold you accountable, that helps too...in the gym, just make sure that you work on your cardio, endurance and strength, and you are good. good luck!
