..when I picked it up a few hours later, there was a patch of blood on the table where it was placed. Can anyone explain why?

lolz not so sure what's going on, next time i will try sealing the plastic bag and see.

You might have seen condensation that naturally happens. Perhaps there was something red on the table because blood, or more properly juice, can't go through plastic unless there was a small slit or hole in the plastic.
I just don't think there is a mystery here.

No fluid will Sip ( Slip ? ) through the plastic if the plastic hasn't been adulterated. could be the bones in handling a stiff/frozen brittle plastic bag poked some nearly microscopic holes in the bag and thus leaked through these holes as the blood/juices thawed/condensed.

The blood can't sip through plastic. However, if the bag was placed in such a way that there was an opening, blood (probably well diluted with water) could leak through the opening. You should use a plate for that very reason.

it probably got a few minuet holes in the bag in the freezer, i don't think foul can leak through plastic. but yeah its happened to me only with hamburger, all over the kitchen table and floor. i checked it out when i was cooking because i didn't understand where the blood came from ,there were tiny little holes i assume caused bye taking stuff in and out the freezer,
