yep! taxation with representation. also, being left alone for so long, nary a peep or a poke from england, france kicks a little dust with the french & indian wars against england & england suddenly sees america as a $$$ colony. england starts taxing the americas. england reasons, ' i'm protecting you from those bad french & indians so pay your share of the war'. the colonists don't see it that way & begins the revolt. it's called salutory neglect. england fought, lost & the rest is history. they tried again to get us back in 1812 & that didn't work either. spoil sports!

They were upset about not being properly represented in the British Parliment. Even though they paid less in taxes, they were unhappy about any increase. Also, they had lived here for a long time, and felt loyalty toward each other, but not the British Crown.
