Why is this in the gay section? Being gay doesn't mean you are called to be a priest. If you are serious though, you will know when you have been called (regardless of sexual orientation because priests aren't supposed to have sex and therefore their sexual preference shouldn't matter) by a constant need and want to join the priesthood. The calling may nag at you for years, if this is the way of it, then I would say you have been called and you should ask your local priest more about joining the brotherhood. Also, please take your time about it, it should not be enterred into lightly with little thought on the decision.

When I was 18 I wondered if I should become a minister as well. I truly believe that one has to have the "calling" to pursue this path in life, though. I realized that I did not, but this is not to say that you may not.

Do you feel an overwhelming connection to the divine? Do you wish to share this with others? Are you committed to the teachings? Have you examined this choice with a clear mind and heart to determine if this choice is motivated by a wish to serve others and not a desire to promote your own ego? Then perhaps you do have the calling.

Discuss this with your own pastor/priest/minister. Examine the choice deeply and thoroughly. Don't make such a decision lightly. Best of luck.

According to my friend who has been a Jesuit for years, you must have a real desire to live your life for God.
You MUST have the gift of celibacy!!!
Men who try to be priests without this special gift from God are the reason why you read these snide comments made in answer to your question.
If you still have sexual urges, you need to deal with that before seeking the preisthood.
Bless you and good luck!

First, you need to *NOT* be a homosexual. Not a pedophile either.

Go straight then go to a seminary and/or religious college. If you still feel the calling, then get counseling from other priests to see if this is what you really want.

If you want to be a priest, you need to try to live as sin-free as possible. It's impossible to be faultless, but you know right away there are a few things to clean up....

Is your heart drawn to that area? Do you feel that serving your life to God to spread his word is what YOU are meant to do? If so then go for it, more power to you. Hope you find an answer to your question one way or another.

**Was this supposed to be another stupid mockery for the catergory? If so, please grow up. No one has the right to indirectly or directly make fun of someone elses life style for purposes of being cruel intentionally. I'm not accusing, just wondering because of how some of the answers commented in a negative way.**

Look at your life and see the trials God has already tried you through. Then judge which route you are best prepared for. If you need help pray to God to send you some hints.

Do you believe it to be a path that you want to walk? Do you see yourself preaching the word of God?
