what is the protocal for paying I have others that will do it first then get paid but they are either booked or cost alot more

cheaper is never better,dont go for the pay half first gut you will get a crap job or no job at all

I've never put more down than 20% - 25% prior to the start of a job. And that was only with a detailed written contract.

Cheaper doesn't always mean better, by the way.

Never pay for service until the job is completed, not even half. Doesn't sound right. Depending on where you live, there should be plenty of other plumbers to contact. When it comes to a home service like plumbing, cheaper is not necessarily better, so please be careful.

As long as you get a receipt with his LC# on the invoice you should be okay . Just get the reflected invoice just in case you have to hunt him down later . If you need te work done sooner then later go for it. Where you referred to this person? Good Luck.

He wants cash to avoid paying taxes.. why isnt this guy booked like the others?? Have you checked him out?.. It may cost more to have someone come and fix his work Buyer beware.....
