How long are indoor tanning lotions good for?

My friend gave me a full bottle of Swedish Beauty. It's full. But, it's about a year old. The girl at the salon said it's probably not good anymore. Now, I know they have to sell products. But, could this possibley be true? I'm kinda thinking it's not.

it`s probably ok, but u should open it & see if it has a funny smell and/or consistency...it should be good for at least a year after manufacture, maybe 2 or 3 years...read this...

Check for an experation date. Most lotions have them.
