Why do you believe America is facinated with violence? There isn't any more violence in America than in other parts of the world and a lot less than in most places.

It's not why is America so fascinated with violence, it's why are people so fascinated with violence. I'm in Costa Rica right now and they have no qualms about showing very explicit tape of shootouts, dead bodies, etc., on the news. The same is true to a lesser extent of Europe. It's human nature.

Because violence sells. Just like how sex sells. America's fascination with violence is due to leadership. America want's to be a country who's in control. They are a control freak. They want to be the police of the world so therefore they tend to get into other's business alot.

Violence is inherent in the human species. People love to watch violence because it is what they would love to do but cannot due to the laws that govern. Of course there are some that eventually fall out of the law abiding circle and commit heinous crimes against the world. It's a sick world in which we live.

America is frustrated. We fought the Native Indians off this land to make it ours. Then we fought for freedom. We were wild and free and now we have to watch every word that comes out of our mouthes. The freedom is subdued and to some, an illusion. Watching violence brings out the anger in our spirit and makes us feel strong again. But movies are fairy tales.

We are not fascinated. We are amused by.
Many Americans(like me) don't enjoy it, and want out.
But I'm sure there is a skeleton in EVERY countries closet.
In response to Beeg Juan, we fought Britain for for freedoms such as religion, and to get Britain's taxes off of our backs.

Very good question. I believe that American people (including myself) have this unrealistic macho image thrown in are faces from an early age. Unfortunately the news, and all other forms of media (to include toys, movies) capitalize $$ on this. Sad but true. Hope this helps.

I guess it's a look into the unknown. I'm not too sure, I think the media has crossed the line.

there is a song that remindes me of this because it is the reason why i like to watch violence on TV. "it happeneds to other people, you say poor you, you say poor thing, but when it's you it's something else, it's everything, you took by body tore it in half, you took my childhood my heart and my laugh, you took everything I had for myself, but when you're gone, i'm not your poor thing anymore"
