NO, not necessarily. Im pregnant with #1, and a boy, and boys are supposed to be late. But im 37 weeks, dialated and 80% effaced and doc says will go any minute, so just because its your first, doesnt mean youll go overdue. My mom had me 3 weeks early, and I was her first.

OK, first of all, take a breath. I know it's hard to wait, uncomfortable, makes you anxious...we've been there. It will be OK, never worry about that. It seems like forever and everything sucks, and then: poof! It's all over and finished.

Every baby is born when it's darn good and ready. It's usually not "weeks" from a delivery date, but it could be a couple...it depends on the baby, the pregnancy, fetal development, loads of factors.

Mostly, take it easy on yourself. Stay hydrated, relax, get plenty of sleep. Baby will be here before you know it (easy for me to say, I know, but I've been there twice).

And then you'll never sleep a full night ever again :)

Honestly: don't worry about it. Baby will arrive when he or she is ready. Until then, take advantage and get all of the Sunday sleep-ins and foot massages you can...

I went in labor at 38 wks with my first and my next two were scheduled c-sections.Alot of people will try to tell you that first baby's are always late but that's not true.My friend was sure that she would be late but ended up having her baby in the back seat of a car at a Texaco @ 36 weeks.(baby was fine)Try to stay active and do pregnancy exercises especially Keegals, this will help you push more effectively and can help keep labor from dragging out.Good Luck!!!

95% of babies deliver within 2 weeks of their due date.
So yours is likely to come in that time.
If you have 'good dates' [ you know the day your last period started, and measurements and ultrasounds verify that ]
Your doctor will not let you go over 2 weeks late.
[ Many people say they were much later than that, but we didn't have ultrasounds for routine pregnancies then - placentas don't last that long. ]

My daughter was 2 weeks late, she must have heard the doctor say stress test because a few hours later I was in labor.

i had my son three days late which is not unusual and he was born in 10 hours flat. everyone is diffrent though so its not really advisable to take others opinions on time tables. a person will have a child when its time for them to. no sooner no later.

It depends on you and your baby. My former manager's sister was born 3 months late! My fiance was over a month late. I was a week late. We were all first children.

Be sure to keep going to your doctor to keep an eye on things.

depends on the baby. they like to take their time...it's scary coming from a comfortable, warm world out into a new one...with nobody who speaks their language and they can't even pick up their head, whereas in their first world they could swim and kick and do ju jitsu...be patient.
