I was told that if I have a masters of education I will not get hired because employers do not wish to pay for a teacher with a Masters. Is this true?
I am getting a masters in Integrated science and a possible special education endorsement.

I think it is totally possible and probable you'll get hired as a teacher with a masters in education; particularly with a science and special ed endorsement. School districts all over the nation are looking for qualified teachers with a science background. There's a shortage of them as we all know. The special education endorsement will just be an added plus to your resume. Good luck!

That is what I have been told, You won't get hired with a Masters. Part of it is cost and part of it is you have no experience. Most of it depends on where you go. Some schools might take you, those in larger cities with lots of money coming in. You probably won't get hired in a small town or a school with no money. So you probably won't want to waste your time with those schools. Get the special ed. endorsement this will help you out a lot, also if you can get certified to coach. Schools will take coaching over experience (This is a proven fact!!!) Make yourself as marketable as you can because having your Masters will make it more difficult to get a job.

I had at least one teacher in high school who had a masters in education. I also had a coworker in the lab where I work who had a masters in education and taught for a couple years before changing careers.

I don't think you will have a problem. Given the choice between you and someone without a masters degree, any school in their right mind would pick you.
