He was beloved by many both Republicans and Democrats. Many that were alive remember the exact spot they were standing in at that time they hear he died I sure do. We cried when Martin and Bobby died also. The 1960's were turbulent times.

Good question. As a Canadian I well remember the day JFK was assassinated...and the days of mourning that followed. I was only 13 years old at the time, sitting in class and the announcement came over the school speakers that JFK had been shot. My teacher ran out of the room crying.
I think the reason for the tears of grief were that JFK seemed to offer so much hope for peace in this world. His stand against the Russians at the Bay of Pigs, his stand regarding racial discrimination in the South...and too, he had endeared himself and his family to many people during his tenure.
John Kennedy is counted among the greatest of statesman that America has have produced. He served during a time of great turmoil in the United States and Internationally. His sense of "people" was only to be admired.
The whole world wept with the death of President John F. Kennedy.

Wouldn't you cry if someone close to you had died?
I wasn't alive during that time, but I'm sure the people living in that time had thought of JFK as being close in heart to have cried when they heard he died...
Same principle as the Virginia Tech thing, many people, heck, I even cried.

Because he was the youngest president in US history, he had two little kids, and he was a very promising person. His wife was widowed, and the news of his assassination was a shockwave to Americans everywhere. Many people anticipated him on being the president, and getting our country out of Vietnam.

A lot of it was shock. He was a pretty well liked president. It was also a different time when people still cared about each other.

He was one of the most "beloved" presidents that we have had. Also, the death was very violent, which shakes people up.
