Approximately 8 pounds. A pint of water weighs one pound. Milk weighs about the same as water, with a small difference which depends on the fat content of the milk -- fat is less dense than water, but skim milk is very slightly more dense than water. A gallon is four quarts, which equals eight pints, so eight pounds is almost exactly correct.
