I was going to say sex, but then usually I have to pay for dinner and stuff to get that. The first breath that we take as babies the instant that we leave our mothers womb. Everything else has a cost.

Nothing in life is free, you have to work towards the things you want out of life. All things come at a price.
To love you must pay the price of excepting that what or whom you love may not love you in return.
For peace you must be willing compromise to reach a decision that is excepted by all.
Good health is living in moderation, not all you want nothing you need.
Time isn't sometime you can take back once it's given, no satisfaction guarantee on time.

Smiles!
P.S. Freedom is NOT free. Millions have paid with their lives for the freedoms a minority in today's world enjoy. And, any society that is not willing to pay the price of maintaining freedom, will lose it - history really does repeat itself.

If by free you mean no price tag attached (paid with by cash), then I would have to say that love, faith, and hope would be the best things in life. To love people without bias or conditions attached, to believe in people without seeing the results first, and to hope when all things seem hopeless, that means the most to me.
(Though homemade cookies from my mom make a close second) ;O)

Oxygen? Sunshine? The good smell of fresh cut grass without allergy symptoms attached? The Ocean? The Mountains? A beatiful sunset and sunrise!
Plus all the things you mentioned.

I think all the things you mentioned are not always free...sometimes you pay a price (not necessarily monetary) for happiness, love, peace, freedom, etc.
Nature...I think the best thing in life is nature.

Wisdom itself doesn't cost a penny and neither does friendship.
They are worth so much. They pay YOU with a meaningful life.
But of course these priceless aspects of life should be taken care of like its worth every penny in the world b/c its very hard to receive them again.
But that's the way you look at it.
In a different perspective, practically everything has a cost in life becomes the best things in life come with sacrifices and hard work. :)

A life lived in kindness and goodness. While the kind choice may "cost" you monitarily, it frees the spirit of heaviness and guilt. Guilt is the most expensive thing in life.

For starters, free costco samples. They rock. Pretty much anyting free is good--free t-shirts, lunch, etc. But material items aside, I'm going to say grassy hills. They rock.
