Eric, hi.
No I don't think it is the taste of beer people like whether they think it bitter or otherwise
I think the love of imbibing beer is far more complex and brings a lot of other reasons into play.
For those beer drinkers I know personlly, the social aspect of it is a huge factor as is the hot Aussie weather.
Added to that is the enjoyment one aquires from beer consumption.
This varies with drinkers but most like the way alcohol (coursing through the body) makes them feel and react.

Not all beer is bitter. You may just be drinking the wrong ones. I like Blue Moon on tap the best. It is served with an orange slice and is quite refreshing. Don't get me wrong the effect of the alcohol is nice too. Try some other beers you just might find one that you actually like.

no but not all beer is bitter! some do not even taste like a beer at all but no i don't think people drink it for the taste its only for the effect!

No, the taste of beer is much more complex than that. I've had beer that is sweet and malty, sour (on purpose!), yeasty, spicy, hot as in spicy and bitter from lots o' hops!
If I want bitter all I have to do is think about one ex-girlfriend in particular, the bitc- . . . never mind!

That's the idea. In the UK some ales are simply called Bitter or Best Bitter.

Well if bier is bitter then wine is sour then maybe we should all rvevert to drinking fruit juices and punches.But jokes aside,i thought initially ppl like beer because it is sweet like juices till i had taste of Henineken myself i nevre did knew what it tatse like.Many ppl will tell u it is sweet just like wine cassnovas.Is it bitter but i have come to enjoy the taste of this wonderful drink. i still love wine it. It inspires me to write poetry

No it has nothing to do with the taste, it's more like they're bitter so they drink to feel good about themself. In my opinion people that drink are looking for a false sense of happiness. Happiness comes within yourself.
