No they are not. Harley's are way better and you'll be much cooler on a Harley!!

I don't ride a Honda but I will choose a Honda or any metric over a Harley any day!!!
I have 4 good friends with H-Ds and so far three of them are very disappointed with their products. Three of these four guys have had their bikes in the shop more than once. Funny thing is that all of us have 2006 and newer bikes. None of us (the metrics) have had problems with ours other than normal maintenance. H-D is just another name this days (nothing special)!!! A motorcycle is a motorcycle no matter what name it has!

sportster by far. the closest would be a 600 vlx shadow, but in comparision to an 883, they feel more cramped, and even the 3.3 peanut tank on the sportster holds more fuel per tank. my friend's vlx 600 holds just a tad under 3 gallons, mine holds 3.3 gallons. but he was also able to stay with me from station to station, and both of us had plenty of juice.
u'd have more aftermarket things u could add to a sportster also; i highly recommend switchin seats the first day. there really isnt much u can do with metrics that i can see...specially if u have a 'chrome fetish'.

Not sure what the Honda equal might be. 600cc Shadow, maybe? Go with a liquid cooled Honda and have a low maintenance, reliable bike that handles, looks sharp and will blow a Sporty's bars off.
Or, just get a nice big American made Honda VTX.
