What I find funny is that when I go to the info out there, like the web,it seems that those that "supported" him are outnumbered about 5-1. But hey like I care,he served even if many men around him say publicly that his record is BS. And the only ones I have ever seen publicly supporting him are one of his commanders and some guy he supposedly saved. Of course the commander has to support him, since if any malfeasance went on in getting him medals and such the commander would be directly involved,in other words CYA.

I don't really care, his testimony after the war says all I will ever need to know about the man,he was a disgrace. He testified against his fellow soldiers as if they were all just a bunch of war criminals,he took a few isolated incidents plus the errors that naturally occur in war,and painted his fellow soldiers as demons. And for that he loses whatever respect his service may have gained him,if those vets who came out against him lied about his record perhaps his actions after Vietnam were the reason they did.

I imagine a lot of lies will be repeated by the usual Republican talking point crowd. They lie about it because they don't mind lying to gain ground. Of course, they don't have to think of it as lying when they just repeat what their favorite Republican sources say without checking the facts first. Why? Because those sources are Republican dad gum it and they wouldn't lie to them! Wow I had trouble typing that with a straight face.

They tell all manner of lies about the Clintons - acting as though all those accusations were proven instead of having to be dropped for no evidence after they spent millions of dollars trying to prove something, ANYTHING, against them. But they got their impeachment, so that mollified them somewhat.

Lying seems to come unnaturally easy for too many of them these days. But let's not call it lying, that gets their back up. Let's call it being deliberately obtuse, is that kind enough?

the sad part is that morons believed the lies and we got stuck with GWB.

here are some "true" things said about Kerry:

"In 1969, I was Sen. Kerry's gun mate atop of the Swift boat in Vietnam. And I just wanted to let everyone know that, contrary to all the rumors that you might hear from the other side, Sen. Kerry's blood is red, not blue. I know, I've seen it.

"If it weren't for Sen. John Kerry, on the 28th of February 1969, the day he won the Silver Star . . . you and I would not be having this conversation. My name would be on a long, black wall in Washington, D.C. I saw this man save my life."3

— Fred Short

"I can still see him now, standing in the doorway of the pilothouse, firing his M-16, shouting orders through the smoke and chaos . . . Even wounded, or confronting sights no man should ever have to see, he never lost his cool.

I had to sit on my hands [after a firefight], I was shaking so hard . . . He went to every man on that boat and put his arm around them and asked them how they're doing. I've never had an officer do that before or since. That's the mettle of the man, John Kerry."3

— David Alston

"What I saw back then [in Vietnam] was a guy with genuine caring and leadership ability who was aggressive when he had to be. What I see now is a guy who's not afraid to tackle tough issues. And he knows what the consequences are of putting people's kids in harm's way."2

— James Wasser

Uhhhh, did I time warp? Kerry and Bush? Have I been in a coma and had a nightmare that an eco-friendly junior senator from Illinois were given elected president? what's happening? Who grew to develop into out the light fixtures?

Because so many people, for completely partisan reasons, continue to believe those lies.

John Kerry was a college graduate who volunteered in time of war and joined the NAVY.

His initial duty kept him safely off-shore aboard ship and he could have easily served his complete tour of duty in Vietnam in that capacity and well out of harm's way.

But he wasn't happy with this contribution and he wanted to do more for his country so he volunteered and was trained for gun-boat duty that took him regularly and deeply into the mouth of potential harm.

How this bravery and patriotism became twisted and turned upside-down by the skillful propagandists of the Republican Party, shows you how adept they can be at making white into black.

How about Dick Cheney and his 5 deferments?

Somehow, he gets a free pass.

It is usually the old men like Dick Cheney who send young men into battle to spill their blood instead of their own!

Go to YouTube type in John Kerry. There is a video where he admits to throwing all of his medals into the fountain at the Mall in DC. What a disgrace to American Soldiers!

The doctors who treated him came foward and described the "scratch that the placed a bandage on from which Kerry recieved his Purple Heart.

You are forgetting the lies about his service which he made and was called out on for reasons of witness and of discrepancies from military records. The men who knew him best tell a much different story.

Because George Bush's service to the country in the National Guard is still under investigation and suspect.

The better question is why do they KEEP lying about him. I suspect they are continuing to campaign against Kerry because they can't believe Bush was actually re-elected

Not many did and those that did only came on for there 15 minutes of fame. You know there is a possibility he could have been a bad officer.
