I'm a poet who writes alot, even been published a few times, and I'm told this is one of my best. What do you think? and please, constructive answers.
The Poets heart
so easily woken
dreams of love
even though it's broken
It dreams of that gift
it hears all around
that gift of a song
without any sound
the lyrics are felt
not spoken or sung
the music's inside
neither played nor strung
It knows if it learned
that song it can hear
it could be happy at last
with nothing to fear
but it can't learn the words
no matter how hard it tries
it can't make that music
so alone, it cries
to the outside world
it must appear strong and brave
a few know it's secret
that inside it's afraid
of never being loved
with no one to hold
of never being wanted
and just growing old
So the Poet just writes
praying someone comes soon
to show him the way home
and teach him the tune.

why not set it to music?
