When someone is totally impervious to reason and evidence, and goes blithely on repeating the same illogical, ignorant rantings (particularly about creationism and evolution), then as far as I am concerned that person is an idiot and I have no compunction about calling him or her such. Added: My stance, above, is usually expressed when the person is patently offensive in a diatribe against non-believers, in addition to showing his or her gross ignorance. On the other hand, if the person expressing an opinion retains at least a modicum of intelligence and apparently has a simple lack of knowledge rather than being willfully ignorant, I will refrain from calling that person an idiot.

How do we address the current clash of fundmentalism in the world? With fundamentalist christians and muslims both working towards the ideal of theocracy government, how do we get them to look at each other and see it is a mirror? How do we get them to value reason, freedom and empathy over their ancient teachings of invoking intolerance and violence?
Best person to read on this matter is Tariq Ali 'Clash of Fundamentalism'.
